Aurelia Gamch
Head Coach

Alma Mater: Bethune-Cookman

Aurelia Gamch was named Head Coach of the Doane Softball program in July 2017.

Coach Gamch came to the Tigers from Ottawa University where she served as an assistant for three seasons. In her final season with the Braves in 2017, she helped coach the team to the NAIA World Series.

Prior to joining Ottawa, Gamch was a volunteer coach for a season at Bethune-Cookman following a successful playing career for the Wildcats. As a player, she hit .307 over her career and was a four-year starter at shortstop. BCU qualified for three NCAA Regional Tournaments during her time as a player. In 2010, she was named the MEAC Rookie of the Year and followed with three consecutive years on the All-MEAC team.
 


Shelby Mendlik
Graduate Assistant

Alma Mater: Doane

Shelby Mendlik joined the Doane Softball coaching staff in fall of 2016 as a graduate assistant. She graduated from Doane in 2014 with a degree in exercise science.

Mendlik served as an assistant for the 2015 team that won the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) regular season championship and qualified for the NAIA Opening Round Tournament, both firsts in the program's history.

As a player, Mendlik posted a .367 career batting average and finished second on the Doane charts with 27 home runs, 141 runs batted in (RBI), a .687 slugging percentage and .454 on-base percentage. She ranked third in runs scored with 108.

Mendlik also had pitching appearances in three of her four seasons. During her junior year, she went 5-1 with a 1.26 earned run average in 10 relief appearances. She struck out 20 batters in 16.1 innings of work.
